The Future

I feel like when I am in my twenties that is when I will actually start experiencing life! I will, hopefully, have my master’s degree in architecture by the time I am 24. I plan on working at an architecture firm shortly after, in which I can create beautiful structures. I have always wanted to go on a missionary trip, so after I graduate college I will probably go on one. It would be great to actually build schools and hospitals in those countries! I have never really seen the United States, just Florida, so I will probably take a road trip and experience new things in different states. Also, I have always wanted to go to Europe and to Australia, so those trips will hopefully take place. I am hoping to get married in my mid twenties- I would like to wait a couple of years afterwards to start a family. I am barely beginning to live and I just want to live my life to its fullest and experience new things!

Out there in the Dark, All Alone

This article talked about how over the years the number of people going out to the movies has decreased. The article mentioned how, in 1948, an average of 90 million Americans would go to the movies every week, while today that number has dropped to about 23 million people (Dargis).  In the mid 20th century it was a common thing to go to the movies and watch the same movies over again, but with today’s technology, people can watch new movies at home with just a click of a button, whether if it’s on the internet or on their own TV. It talked about how because there wasn’t the invention of the videocassette until the late 19 hundreds, movies would only be held in theaters for a few weeks and afterwards they would be destroyed. Today we can buy/ rent movies and watch them whenever we want to. The article discussed how there was a connection with family and friends who would go to watch movies together because they would all experience that new film together, whereas today, a person can watch a movie alone and it isn’t until later that they discuss what they had seen with others. When I read this article, honestly, I was surprised. I mean I had never really thought about this, but it is so true. Technology has been advancing rapidly, which is having an effect when it comes to entertainment. Today I can go onto the internet or Movies on Demand and I can easily obtain a movie just from my own house, and I can do it at my own time. In the end it is cheaper because you don’t have to spend gas to drive to the theaters or you don’t have to pay for those expensive movie tickets.

Technology Tip

Ever since I’ve started college, I’ve barely had time to watch t.v. When I have actually found the chance to sit down and watch t.v, they are usually not playing my favorite t.v shows. Websites like Hulu.com, tv.com, and mtv.com have made my life a lot easier because I can just watch my favorite shows online. I can always catch up on episodes I’ve missed and sometimes I can even watch sneak peeks. Its really nice because since its online, I can watch those episodes at my own pace. Also, they have little to no commercials at all, which I think is pretty great!

I recently stumbled upon this song. Not only was the beat catchy, but I really like the lyrics to the song. It talks about inner beauty in girls and how everyone is made beautiful and we are all special. It talks about how we shouldn’t let others influence us on making certain decisions and how we shouldn’t change ourselves just to please others, we should love the way we are and not be afraid to show it. I think this song is important because a lot of teenage girls have a lot of self esteem issues and they are always comparing themselves to others. They easily believe what others might tell them, whether if its good or bad. I think that this songs shows that you shouldn’t be afraid of being yourself!

Spring break is a chance for college students to take a break from their hectic classes and schoolwork. It is a chance for them to relax, have fun, and spend time with their friends and family members. Spring breaks became popular after World War II because of the first olympic size swimming pool in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in which many swimmers traveled for competitions. After the movie Where the Boys Are came out, more and more students wanted to come to Florida for their spring breaks to have fun. Before we knew it, the tradition of spring break evolved.I had a pretty good spring break. I got to sleep, ALOT, I went to the beach, and I actually got to be a couch potato (which was amazing because I literally hadn’t watched t.v in weeks). One of the best things I did during my spring break was get my belly button pierced (as you can see from the video clip above). I had been wanting to get it pierced since I was 13 years old, but I wasn’t allowed to do it until I was 18. I never got the chance to do it when I was 18, and I was talking with my sister about it a few weeks ago, which made me decide to get it done during my spring break (it gave me something to REALLY look forward to). I was a little nervous about the pain but I was surprised to discover that it actually didn’t hurt that bad. I was a little bummed that it happened so quickly, but I am absolutely in love with it!

The Future of college may be virtual

This article discussed how technology has been advancing rapidly and how it is having an effect in education. More and more students are turning daily to online schooling systems, due to the fact that they are cheaper and that they can be easily managed with their personal schedules. The article talked about how a woman was able to take four college courses online for about $200 when, on average, that would cost about $2,700 at a university. I personally understand that classes online can be beneficial because it can be cheaper and a person can manage that class at their own pace, but that would take the whole “college experience” out of their lives! But I guess that it depends on the individual and how they plan to spend their college years.

This is a picture of me and my sister at the beach. My sister and I are inseparable, we do everything together! We are so random and goofy, and we are constantly laughing at the dumbest things. My sister plays a huge part in my life and I can’t even imagine what my life would be like without her!

A viral video is a video that has spread quickly through the internet. It is very common for a viral video to be humorous, which plays a big part when it comes to how quickly it is passed on. Viral videos are usually simple videos that are made at home by ordinary people, there is not really anything fancy to it (for instance, when it comes to special effects). Viral videos have boomed since the use of video sharing websites such as YouTube, funny or die, etc. but before those websites existed, viral videos were usually spread through emails (but that wasn’t very common). What causes viral videos to spread in the first place are the actual viewers of the video. When they see a video that they like, they usually show it to their friends and family members who then show it to their friends and family members etc. and before you know it, thousands of people have already viewed that video! Viral videos contain many aspects which make them become popular, for instance: the videos are usually short, funny, they can incorporate music (especially when it comes to making spoofs), they are not necessarily great on quality, and the list continues! People are considered to have their “15 minutes of fame” because their video views boom in a short period of time, but then suddenly, another video always comes along and steals the limelight. It is basically a cycle.
